Geology:  Proterozoic and Paleozoic Yukon Gp. metasedimentary rocks cut by Permian, Triassic, and Tertiary intrusions.Entirely within the Klondike Plateau. Klondike district has not been glaciated and therefore the surface rocks are deeply weathered. The region is in the discontinuous permafrost zone.
Mineralization:
Placer gold confined to creek bottoms and benches. Gold as grains, flakes, and nuggets, much actually lying in cracks and broken rocks at the gravel/ bedrock contact.
Work:
Black Hills Creek has been in continuous production for over thirty years.
Results:
Seventy-five thousand raw ounces produced since 1975.
Four miles of virgin valley bottom remain to be mined.
The creek averages 1.5 raw ounce per running foot up the valley.
One raw ounce per eighty loose yards washed.
