LORNCu Au Mo PORPHYRYBRITISH COLUMBIA
Geology:
Upper Cretaceous quartz monzonite to diorite Lorna stock intruding Upper Jurassic to Cretaceous Kingsvale Gp. sedimentary and volcanic rocks.
Stock exposed as a cupola in a north-south trending valley.
Kingsvale andesitic volcanic rocks form the ridges on either side of the valley and in the cirque to the south.
Stock-volcanic contact marked by prominent gossan formed from oxidation of iron-rich minerals, primarily pyrite, from the hornfels zone in the andesitic volcanics.
Mineralization:
Disseminated and stockwork pyrite, chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite, with local molybdenite in Lorna Stock. Disseminated and fracture controlled pyrite, pyrrhotite and local chalcopyrite mineralization in adjacent volcanic rocks.
Work:
1973: Discovered and prospected-no records available (Phelps Dodge)
1971 to 1974: Prospected, mapped, sampled, 1,490 ft. (704 m) of core drilling in 5 holes (Cominco)
1969 : Prospected and trenched (Burlington Mines)
Results:
Copper mineralization is widespread.
Reconnaissance soil sampling gave anomalous values (200 to 1,300 ppm Cu - 14 samples) along a 4 km strike length.
Chip sampling (not continuous) from three separate areas within the intrusive returned 0.28% Cu over 2,120 ft. (647 m), including 1.17% Cu over 30 ft. (9.2 m) and 1.15% Cu over 200 ft. (61 m); 0.21% Cu over 1,660 ft. (506 m); and 0.40% Cu over 450 ft. (137 m).
According to author of the technical report these results are a good qualitative guide to mineralization present and zones were open along strike but these chip samples are not representative as they were from discontinuous outcrop exposures.
Property Details & Access:
two mineral tenures (686743 & 686763), covering 832.2 ha
Access is by fixed wing float aircraft or helicopter.
Detail Location:
190 km N of Vancouver and ~30 km ESE of the S end of Lower Taseko Lake, at 51o 6' N latltude and 123o 10' W longitude.
Other Comments:
Located between Barrick's Poison Mountain (40 km E) and Taseko's Prosperity (50 km N) porphyry deposits.
Geological mapping is preliminary
No geophysical surveys on the property.
Drilling limited to five short holes from only two set-ups.
Vendors recommend a program of detailed geological and alteration mapping in conjunction with a 12 km IP geophysical survey to define drill targets.
